improving the club

I'm a new paddler and just joined about 4 months ago and now very addicted to the sport. Its my new found passion and myself and my team are currently training for an upcoming regatta. With the exception of one member my entire team are all new. Just wondering for those of you that have been in the sport long, if you could give suggestions to how we can further improve our team not only physically, mentally but most importantly financially. We are trying to fundraise for the regatta and any ideas on some fun and easy fundraisers would be much appreciated.

Hi, I've paddled for a few years and been involved with the running of my club. I assume that the experienced paddler is the coach. You may want to elect somebody as fundraising co-ordinator. Somethings that we do are:
Seeking sponsors e.g. Coke, Powerade or a beer label. Raffles and selling food are easy.
A simple training guide is to do a 3 day plan of long, fast and mix.
This could be Monday 1hr long paddle, Wednesday short 30 second sprints with 1minute rest, Saturday 2 hour long paddles with some sprint work.

Hi,

It depends what country you are in as to what will work best. Every place is different, look around at other sports clubs in your area, see what works and go for it.

Koka
