Hi all,
What are the Paddles everyone is using for OC1? Why do you like them? Are they better for surfing conditions or flat? ETC.
Just wanted some ideas.

I bought an all wood Mudbrook X2 and I love it. Won't be going back to carbon. It's light, comfortable has a great blade shape. I am very happy with it. I use it for OC-1 paddling not OC-6.

mudbrook xp. it's light, with a good catch, and nice release.. only drawback is that it's not as durable as a carbon hybrid. cheaper though.

Aloha Koka,
I'm sure there is alot more of this on the forum already.
Feelings on paddles, just like kanus, are many and varied.
I like the "hapa" style (wood shaft/carbon blade) for all my paddling.
I especially like the blades that Jim Terrell makes at Quickblade Paddles ( www.quickbladepaddles.com ) for any type of kanu I am in. There are plenty of really good paddles to choose from...use as many as you can and keep trying different styles out even after you think you found "the one". It still suprises me how good a paddle feels after I have paddled something else for a long time.
Have fun.
Aloha,
Bill

Aloha,
Yes I too liked the carbon/wood combo at first, but now I am tending to use all wood or all carbon. I found the mix to have a slight flex difference between the two materials, that takes away from the smooth feeling a bit.
All wood or all carbon seems to have more of a uniform feel to the flex. Also seems smoother, I think...
Tried my coach's Zre the other day it felt good, have yet to try Kialoa's new one. One of my all time favorite was a wood Makana Ali, I think it was called I used in Japan once. Great Paddle.
You are right there are so many good ones out there, Thats why I asked the question for some ideas, thanks.
