Flying with Paddle

I'm flying from the mainland to Maui this weekend and I'm taking a paddle with me. Any advice on how to get it there in one piece? My plan right now is to put it in my paddle bag with an extra padded bag inside, check it with my other luggage and then cross my fingers.

I did the same thing and had only my blade part in a bag. Most airlines flying to Hawaii deal already beautifully with surfboards etc.The only difference is they don't put it on the conveyor but you pick up your padle on the side door
Good luck

i bought a double rifle hard case from sports authority and it fits paddles up to 52". the outer shell is hard plastic and will totally protect you $180+ paddle for only a fraction of the cost.

put it in a paddle bag and check it...it should be fine...i've seen it done...if your traveling with paddles for a whole crew get two five gallon buckets and some towels and tape. Wrap all the t-grips in a towel and put the t grips in one bucket. take the blades and put them in the other bucket and put towels between them until they are snug and can't move,Tape around the shafts once or twice...and tie the bucket handles together to keep them from coming off...hope that makes sense...
