OC-1 for Queen Lili"uokalani 2007

My team from Canada has just booked accomodation for the upcoming Queen Lili'uokalani race Sept. 1st 2007. We can't wait to experience warm Hawaiian waters and true Hawaiian culture!

If possible,I also want to race the OC-1 on the next day. Does anyone know how, or who to talk to about hiring an OC-1 for this race?

Thanks for your reply, mangisepik

Aloha,
Try the Kai`Opua website www.kaiopua.org.

Thanks MikeA,

The Kaiopua web site says canoes are given to visiting clubs, starting with clubs coming from farthest away first.

This is very generous and we are gratefull...... I assumed this applied to OC-6's but did not think OC-1's were included. Are OC-1's available to foreign paddlers from Kaiopua?

Thanks, mangisepik

Aole pilikia (no problem) mangisepik.
Kai`Opua will help find OC1, and OC2 canoes that may be available as loaners. We can't always guarantee what type of canoe, but we almost always have been able to cover all requests.
At some point, usually in June or July, we will designate someone in our club to handle requests to borrow OC1 and OC2's. That contact info will be put on the website.
I do that for the OC6 and OC12 requests, but we work with the requests registered on the website as entries.
The website right now is fairly current, but is still not on line with all the 2007 information.
You can also email me at matwood@cyanotech.com with any other questions. If I can't help you, I can direct you to someone who should be able to.
