edit: I read your question again, I guess you are asking about paddles not canoes.

A great place to start is on the Kialoa paddle website, Kialoa.com. Click on products, and then in resources, click on How To Choose. there is a guide for height and paddle size matches. Good Luck.
Before getting your first one, if you can try a few to get the feel, that would be optimal.

the new quickblade...its called the kanaha...best blade i've ever used...www.quickbladepaddles.com i think...but that blade isn't on the website yet...call or email and ask about it...it should be worth it
