seasickness

My friend gets seasick in longer races.. i.e. the Moloka'i solo. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

Try ginger (capsules are most convenient). It really does help!

Other than that it should go away with time as your body adjusts.

Ginger has been proven better than over the counter drugs. Scopamine (the patch) is also good but it has some bad side effects. The best thing? A certain green plant that you smoke. Honestly, its suppose to the best thing. Never tried it myself, its what I hear.

I get seasick easily. I've been paddling for years and have never adjusted. I just take half a dose of dramamine and make it through without a problem.

You could try those wrist bands that put pressure on the inside of your wrist. I don't know if they actually work, but remember wearing them when sailing and such.

I forgot about this. Its suppose to work really well. I've always wanted to try it but 80 bucks is and expensive "try."

It was tested in fighter jets and stopped motion sickness.

Neat device, Poop. Sounds too good to be true. It falls into the same category as my saying Anna Nicole's baby is actually mine. Just kidding (i.e., about the device).

Speaking of sea sickness...I remember my first real fishing trip I went on. I knew about my proclivity towards auto regurgitation so I brought the works with me....the ginger, the bands on the wrist, scopolamine patch, Bonine, etc.. I think I even brought my own witchdoctor. It worked and I never got seasick. I was in a coma for three days though and...

J

Stuck in a hotel and watching Mythbusters recently and they tested a range of anti-nausea cures. Wrist bands didn't work, ginger and anti-motion sickness medication were most effective. The testers prefered the ginger and with the medication they felt queasy but just not being physically ill, with ginger they felt better all around.

Who said paying $200/night to watch Discovery channel isn't worth it ?
