hey, today i raced in my first oc race. i entered in the teen oc-2 division. it was an experience, though not the greatest, still good fun. we started off really strong at the head of the pack then hullied a couple times but remained around the leaders. then we hullied about 2 miles from the finish and my partner drifted at a fast pace away from me so i had to tread water for about 15 min while the escort boat came to pick me up and return me to the canoe. finished about 4th to last. thanks to the escort boat crew and some other caring paddlers i finished the race safely. anyone else have some interesting/embarassing first race experiences?

yeah i was his partner... big thanks to the escort boat and people who actually stopped and helped.. anyhow it was good fun and hope to do the race again!
"its really hard to turn a 2man around against the waves/wind/current" or back paddle all the way back at least :P.

ho guys, right on. Good you finally made it out. You might want to pick up a leash. I remember doing a run with luke on the twoman my first year. We caught this huge wave and I kept leaning left until I fell off. Luke might not of noticed I was gone if it wasn't for the leash dragging me for 20 yards. Nah, I might of been sitting in the front so maybe he would of noticed... and it might not of been luke I was with, but still -- it's good to be attached to the boat.

ha ha.. yeah i guess both of us shoulda had leashes on.. we know better now :D.. next race we doing 1mans though.

funny thing was that it was the same canoe for both stories---
and keizo i remember when you fell off.. lol--- was hilarious.. i was in the back and he fell off when we were on a wave and i saw his body getting dragged under water right next to me... good thing he had the leash on though.
eh good job on doing the race though, you'll have more fun next time on your one-mans.

o hey luke... sorry about not washing your boat.. me and Cameron forgot because we where so bumbed out about the race and feeling bad for couple of people that had to turn around and go find him in the water while i just drift forward waiting for the escort boat.

i just used it today in the river and didn't wash it--- so it's minors.

lol alright.. what river did u paddle in ? me and Cameron paddled today for a bit testing out his boat.. making sure never had leaks and defects... kinda to windy and choppy to go out of the harbor though---
