How do you store your canoe?

Hi,

Can you guys tell me how you store your canoes? I’ve been wanting to get an OC-2 for a long time, but don’t know where to put it because they are so long. The shortest canoe I’ve found is about 25 feet long, which is too long for my garage.

It might fit in my backyard, but it would be pretty awkward. Would a tarp be sufficient to protect it or is it better to build something?

Thanks for your help!

Albert

For da boats we have large garage with padded wall hooks and floor cradles for both 1 man and 2 man . Out back we have boats hung under roof eves from webbing and bike hooks.

Put two 4x4 pressure treated wood posts in the ground in your yard spaced sufficiently to support the boat (i.e. for my OC1s I spaced them 9 feet apart) . Pad the posts with some foam on the side that will be in contact with the boat and figure out a way to screw hangers or just a few hooks into the posts to hang the boats against it with hylon strap or other material. That is as simple as it gets.

If you want you can build something more elaborate with a top ledge to protect the boat from Sunlight, but I keep my boats in covers so that was not needed for me.

Aloha
