Vertical Storage system for OC1- outside!

Hey All,

I live in "space challenged" circumstances, and want to find a way to suspend my OC1 vertically, outside, when not in the water. It needs to be a system that allows removal and placing the OC1 up easily, several times per week.

Anyone have a solution for this?

I have concerns that the boat is not constructed expecting nose or tail weight,so I will need to keep this in mind.

Much appreciated.

Richard

Many paddlers here in Japan are storing their OC1 vertically.

Get two blocks for sailing, looong and reliable rope.
One block on the tip of the roof or something high above.
Wrap the OC1 around the rear IAKO mount with rubber tube and tie another block to this.
Now pull the rope and hang the OC1 so that not too much load on the nose tip.

I'll picture it this weekend and post it later.

I put in a verticle storage system for a friend of mine. The backbone of the system was a set of pullys I bought at my local bike shop for hanging bikes or boats. The reason I did not make my own was that the one from the bike shop had device built in so that if you let go of the rope it would jam and the boat would not crash to the floor. The hangers come in two varieties, one with one rope and one with two ropes. I choose the one with two ropes because it insures that the front and rear of the ski go up at the same rate even if the load is unbalanced which is not the case with the one rope set up. I was at a boat shop the other day and saw a similar system but of higher quality and cost from Harkin, the company that produces pullys for sailboats. Although you can connect the hooks on the system to slings around the boat to hoist it, I got rid of the hooks and made a "shelf" to put the boat on. This is nice because you can lower the shelf so that it is at the correct carrying height for you. This makes taking out or putting away the boat very easy. I would also add safety straps so the boat isn't blown off the shelf.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Looks like a neighbour will allow me to hold the boat horizontally, between houses, so I will not have to be so creative after all!

Thanks for the input!
