Who is the most dominate paddler in the sport in both 6 man as well as one man

This should be a good one speak your mind and dont be scared or biast for your homies . Who would be the # 1 pick of all open men paddlers to build a world champ ? I would make a case for Danny Ching , lets face it California isnt known for spitting out world class paddlers . All the while Danny has these cross over atheletes and not the youngest guys smashing most of the field in some big races . Danny you are my fist pick you are the Kobe of paddling the best all around paddler in the US . Karel and Kai dont want none in a sprint or in the flat and to be honest if he spent as much time in the surf as those two we might be looking at that "elite" group differently . What about Manutea Owens or Luis Laughlin or Kea Pai'aina shall we draft ? Outrigger should be able to pay the most or maybe Tui Tonga could offer a major contract offer LOL !!!

Whose the best paddler to build your championship team around? I'd take the best steersman first, who in my opinion is Karel Jr., but you couldn't go wrong with any of the people you mentioned. Not to mention Karyl Moani(?) or anyone else from Shell Va'a. A more compelling question- Who is the world's most dominant Paddle talker?

Sorry hommies I had too much pimp juice last night but what do you guys think ? Who is the # 1 pick in your opinion ? Im taking Danny who has these Cali boys going career and him self proving to be a dominate force in all conditions on his own . Anybody see his 3rd leg in Kauai ? If they took split times he might have had the fastest for that leg . I know he came up short in the solo but im taking Danny # 1 the L.A wiz kid . Of coarse Jim is going to take his " local legend " Karel . What about the rest of you ? common "baloon" guy who is your 1st pick ? Oh yah and whats up with that ballon anyways ? Sort of wierd ....

I believe the balloon symbolizes a certain feature of the human anatomy that decorum prevents me from mentioning in name. BTW, welcome aboard, Paddle Pimp!

Danny is a great paddler and there are a bunch of amazing guys out there. I have to agree with Jim, "shakes head" Karel Jr. I was once told will put your boat five places higher in a race just because he is that good... although Danny ain't half bad himself in the hot seat, it's Jr's world and were just living in it.

jr, danny and the remainder must straight crack up, if they read these forums. the love is fair from control. that said….in consideration of the entire body of the work and the ability. Diaper.

If you're going Past and Present, then why not Duke Kahanamoku?

#8 Sun, 05/27/2007 - 4:30pm

If you are going Past Present Ray Shipman from Lanakila he's crossed more times than Ive been alive and he finished the solo as the oldest person this year at 56. He's the man.

Same with Willie Reichenstein originally from Scotland but now down at NAC. He's probably coached about half of the people who paddle in California, and a bunch of other guys who now paddle elsewhere. The man still paddles at 6:00 every morning and kicks everyones butt even though he's in his sixties...

Ok what about the Foti Bros ? Walter Guild ? Maybe Chris Maynard or Tommy Conners ? How about Mike Judd ? As long as we are talking all time . Jr is the obvious 1st pick in the draft and maybe one of paddlings most dominate ever . I was tring to create some debate and I cant wait to hear everyones opinions so common spark one up speak your minds .Not just 6man one man too .

#11 Sun, 05/27/2007 - 10:12pm

Not to be an old codger from Lanikai(Sorry e02060), but what about Rich Lambert? Two molokai victories, third in the solo, Hamilton 96 win, etc. At 6'7, 220 he's the best power guy I ever saw.
