I'm sure this has been covered before, but what do people do to avoid chafing while paddling? I paddled 65 miles in two days about a week ago and the only issue I had was chafing in the nether regions!
Has anyone come up with a foolproof method for avoiding this?

Bodyglide. Just remember...never borrow Bodyglide from another paddler. ;-)

BodyGlide and/or an underlayer such as lycra boxer shorts. The latter by itself is almost fullproof.

Cycling bib shorts. Super comfy.

Thin smear of Vegemite. Shower straight after paddling or risk dog attacks.

Cod liver oil up here in the North Atlantic. Butter is OK but margerine's a bit cheaper 'by.

I asked that very same question to one of my experienced paddler buddies. He told me to loose 20lbs. He was right, for the most part that worked.

I use Desitin or Budreaux's Butt Paste. It is the same stuff I use for my sons diaper rash. Basically zinc oxide, it lubes really well and stays put. I had a problem with Vaseline melting and going away. I learned that the hard way. I also use it on my fat role as it gets chaffed on my waist band.
I have used it on the last 2 nine man runs I did and no issues at all it was still their when I got home and showered. I have not been paddling long but I find it works for me.

Burt's Bees makes fine products too. Either the diaper rash one or there's one called "herbal defense ointment". Desitin is probably cheaper though!
