Yes contact meg or amy at Kialoa, kialoa@bendcable.com The paddles are warranteed for 1 year, as long as the paddle has not sustained any user abuse beyond normal paddling habits, Hitting rocks, 9man changes, excessive wear on shafts etc.

I've had several Kialoa paddles go limp over the years. In both instances, the actual blade became concave. The shafts were great though...at least that's what the ladies said.

try not to put your paddle in the oven for more than 5 to 7 minutes at a time.

Worst thing you can do to any Black coloured carbon paddle is leave it in the sun. Air trapped in the core will expand and warp the blade and most likely delaminate it. Leaving them in hot cars and lying in the sun is abuse and will void your warrantee. If you live in a hot tropical area, paint the paddle a light colour, or keep it in a solar paddle bag.

I have done some research and there is a team who got a whole order of blades 9 months ago and they ALL have the "wobble " . Would kialoa replace all of them ? That would be fair considering they are 220 $ paddles to me they should last more than a year .Wait for 220$ they should never go limp ! If you plan on steering the Kaiwi I would think twice about using a kialoa . My Hamilton race was jeopardized cause of a faulty Kialoa that imploded . As for me I will never spend me hard earned $ to have another Kialoa implode . In a perfect world those Makana Ali'i 's would be more available . Now that blade is worth $ 220 .

It's always fascinating to hear people extract entire philosophies from one incident, or rumor, or hearsay or whatever. (check the never ending OC1 'quality' threads...) I've had the luck or misfortune to paddle virtually every blade avaiable, in most configurations, in both steering and standard, in OC6 and OC1s. You can have good and bad luck with any paddle, I've gotten them from Hawaii, Oz, US mainland, Tahiti, Wallis and Fortuna and on and on...some people want a paddle that will last forever, some people want a paddle that they think makes them the fastest, some want the prettiest.
Kialoa consistently makes the best blades going, steering or otherwise. If you have a legitimate problem, they will repair or replace it. I think their quality, workmanship and innovation are second to none. I've used Keones, Axels, Hollyakalas, Fotis and so on for years. The only problems were caused by my carelessness or poor paddling.

Paddlepimp. it has been 9 months since you bought the paddles, How soon after getting the paddles did the problem come up? Why have you not contacted Kialoa and asked them about the problem, I have said it many times is previous posts if you have a problem with something you buy take it back to the rep or manufacturer, they can't fix what they don't know about, and neither can your friends or online viewrs that are reading about the problem, In my earlier post on this thread I stated Kialoa warantee the paddles for one year, I also gave the email and contact, I really think you should have contacted them first before bashing the product publicly,

At delivery I had a mild bubble on the face. Returned it, got replaced. no questions asked, no problem!
Replacement performs flawlessly.

A Hamo this year the Aussie Kialoa rep noticed a slight flaw in my year old Axel 2 that i hadn't noticed, it was mostly cosmetic. To my surprise she gave me a new one and told me to donate the other one to the juniors. Guess what? I bought the paddle in Hawai'i April 2006, still the Aussie rep insisted on giving me a new one, even though i bought it overseas.

Customer service don't get better than that.

I've paddled with a Kialoa in some form or other for years and never had a problem. If you give it a little TLC and avoid sticking it in the hot sand, stepping on it during a water change, or cooking it to 140 degrees in your car, you shouldn't have any problems. Also, paddle makers don't come any nicer than Dave and Meg Chun -- that's always a plus in this sport.
