howzit going. I’m new to California and looking for a paddling team in or near Vallejo. If any one knows of a team or where they meet that would be super. Thanks.
Welcome! The closest club is an outrigger club in Benicia. Per the Northern California Outrigger Club Association website (ncoca.com), contact Basil at 707-745-8206. Our club (O’Kalani) is a bit of a drive, down at Jack London Square in Oakland. We paddle Tues/Thurs at 5:30 pm, and Saturday at 9am.
There are quite a few clubs scattered around the Bay. Check out the NCOCA website for more.
phgadd is right…Benicia is the closest. I’m in Vallejo myself, but I paddle with Kaimanu in San Leandro which is down the road from O’Kalani… I believe we are paddling this coming Sat or Sunday if you wanna check Kaimanu out. Drop me a msg if you’re interested.
Glad to help, Damien. If you have any problem contacting Benicia, let me know. Some of our paddlers paddle with them frequently, so I’m sure I can put you in touch with them.
Also, O’Kalani’s canoes are kept at the Jack London Aquatic Center, which is about a half mile down the Estuary from jack London Square proper. If you need help finding us, just drop me a line.
