Recommend a reasonably priced sport watch

This is marginally related to paddling but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I've worn a a Timex Ironman watch for as long as I can remember. It has a decent face, stopwatch, countdown, etc. and the famous "indigo" back light. I wear it for paddling and often try to time myself when I'm doing a run. The placement of the stop watch buttons sucked however because everytime I paddled, my hand would hit the buttons and stop the watch upon flexion. Well, the ole' Ironman went in cognito and I have to buy a replacement. Can anybody recommend a good sportwatch that won't break the bank?

Casio G-shock at Costco is cheap and bombproof. I've literally blown up a bomb strapped to it's face and it still works. Granted this isn't a 50 megaton bomb or anything.

Think they run about 45 bucks when they get the shipment in. It has stopwatch, countdown, two time zones, and a super bright backlight that is automatic when you turn the watch face to face your face.

FACE!

Funny you should mention it, JC9_0. I just happen to have one right in front of me...still in its original packaging from Costco. Features: Shock Resistant, 200M Water Resistant, EL Backlight, Auto Calendar and 1/100 Second Stopwatch. The only problem is you need to carry a magnifying glass around with you to see the face on this one.

I got it as a gift, took one look at it and then tossed it into the closet. That was 2 years ago. I don't even have the heart to give it away. I hope the new ones are better.

well if you ever do have the heart to give it away, let me know.

Yeah man, I know this guy, he's smart, good looking, probably the best paddler ever, who paddles a red stingray, who has young eyes that can see it. He'd love to have it.

THink about it: would the person that gave it to you want it sitting in your closet or being used? Huh? huh?

Hehe poops

Tell you what. You can thumb wrestle jc_09 and the one who wins at least 2 out of 3 can have it.

I ended up picking up a Shark Tide Freestyle sport watch from some online company for $69. The watch sells locally for $100 so I saved a bit. The watch has a 15 year tide chart for 128 beaches world wide, including tide charts for 3 beaches on Hawaii, 5 beaches on Maui, 4 beaches on Oahu and 3 beaches on Kauai. The tide chart is accurate, easy to use and see.

The button placement is the same as the Timex but the buttons do not appear to be prone to wrist movement.

ALRIGHT! Heard that jc_9, we have to mud wrestle naked 2 out of 3 times to see who gets the watch. Its ON!

funny you should mention mud. look at the above posts and you'll see that I clearly have dibs on the watch.

OK that's it. I just wanted to say mud too.
