Forum categories

In case the framework for this weblog allows categories, I think it would be nice if we had subsections like

boat design
training
race reports
paddles
safety
...

There should be one category that you have to pay to post in.

This category would be reserved for those wishing to promote businesses on the site.

On the Aussie forum if you want to push your product you have to be a sponsor, (no sponsorship, no advertising) costs a couple of hundred, but well worth it to support the sport & keep the forum running with hosting costs etc. ... I do notice some sponsors mentioned at the top of the page, so looks like they are supporting the sport that feeds them ? It would be nice to see Kiezo get something back for the hard work that started as an experiment ! ... also Kiezo, if youre out there ! I'd love a postal address (tried emailing but no luck) so I can send you a calendar & copy of my new outrigger book ! .....The Harv

Why could categories be helpful ?

If you want to discuss 'chines', you can do that in the 'design' section. :)

It may be easier to keep paddlers performance, personal preferences, promotions etc . separated.

And yes, of course a section for rudders ...

What about a straight-up trash talk, bullshit opinion category?

jambes micklappitius think the trash has been flowing in every category. but yes, there should be a spot designated for it.

After reading the Molokai Solo thread I think we definitely need a rumor category. Maybe we add it to Jim's categories.

are you implying jimothy is spreading rumors?

Don't know about that, but rumors, bullshit and trash talk seem like not so distant cousins. All valuable at least in the humor department.
