Aloha!

We are ready to buy our first 2-man canoe. Want to know where we can find reviews of the Hypr Waveblade and the Ocean Outrigger Stingray 2?

Anybody have any information or opinions on either of these two boats, we would greatly appreciate it.

Mahalo.

I`d look on the Hypr website for the Hypr info

and Outrigger Connection website for Stingray 2 info.

You can call your local dealer for specific details.

I would take the outrigger connection boat over the HYPR any day. Wayyy better craftmanship. Plus the stingray has chines which makes boats much faster.

Although the journey to get one will be long, Tiger Taylor’s Mahoe II is as good as it gets for an all around OC2. Any naysayers might want to bring their OC2 to participate in the Hui Makua O Kawaihao race in early February.

If you choose any boat other than a Stingray2 . You will be faced with having to race against many of them and who would want to put themselves in that situation?

I’ve got an original WaveBlade 2-man ultralite lay-up and love it. Actually, since it is the only oc I have, I train on it solo all the time. I’ve been on other 2-mans, and have found them very difficult to paddle solo. Last year on Maui, I enter every race with a different partner and won the 2-man div each time…. so its a very versatile boat.

I enjoy it on the flats and in the bumps. So I recommend the “real” Waveblade.
I haven’t raced a Hyper one yet but saw that their weights varied tremendously between boats, so be careful with that.

good luck!

HUKI!

I have a Huki V2Z, and love it. It is very fast in races, and I have even done well with my 7 year old daughter in seat one! Check www.huki.com, Jude is a real pro and a pleasure to deal with. He can give you a deal on one if it is already built or if he has one in the pipeline.

KGB,

Mahaloz for the invitation to race you on oc2s. Unfortunately I wont be able to make the race on 2/2/08. But I will be in Hawaii Kai starting on Feb.16, 08. till March first. Hopefully get in a race around that time.
