checked out the conditions for the race course tomorrow and it was about 15-25 mph w/ stronger gust and 4-6 ft swells w/ occ 8ft here and there. should be nutzzzz!!!!!!
I just spoke to John Emerson, and the race is on for tomorrow. The only change is they will run on the inside of the reef at Waimanalo. Registration is still at Makai Pier. Most likely it will start from the Beach Park, with some sort of addition for the long course folks to make it longer. Same time for registration.
Myself and Jim are going to paddle the course and check it out. Race is a go. Its definitely pumping and dangerous, but these are the kind of conditions we paddle for!!!! Stoke for tomorrow.
Yesterday I saw a guy huli-ed by a breaker when he veered in too close off DH. It took a little less than one second. With the wind and the swells the transition zone was a bit blurred.
