about a fair race

The biggest part of the problem with yesterdays start was the paddlers. We all need to listen and then follow directions.

Everyone was supposed to group inside and go out together with the starter. Instead people went immediately out, going further and further and further and further out. No way for others to catch them or the starter to catch up to start the race. When finally the Jet ski stopped everyone the line for the outside boats was pretty good. Then someone took it upon themselves to start the race "unofficially" with no regard for the boats still trying to get out.

There would have been no way to restart and no way to penalize anyone. Best thing to do is exactly what Kanaka Ikaika did. Except it as what it was, have some good food, pass out some prizes, and move on to the next race.

I think this year Kakaka Ikaika is getting the old feeling back of how it was to do the races a few years ago. I appreciate the races and the effort put into them. Sure the start was a mess, but the race was still good fun.
