Kohala Coast Challenge
The 13th Annual Koahala Coast Challenge was held on Saturday March 1st at Kawaihae. The mild conditions didn't dampen the spirit of the over 160 paddlers who participated in this classic event. There was also a large contingent of junior and paddleboard racers. A big Mahalo to the new sponsors of the event, there was already talk of the 2009 version before the day was over. This day also marked the first time H.I.P.A.'s new electronic race registration and timing system was used in real event. As with any new system, there is a learning curve and bugs. The hardware worked as expected though the software will need some adjustments before the next event, the problems were small and easlily adjusted. Mahalo for the patience of the paddlers.
