on a serious note

A look at some numbers about global warming....

Kalihi will be a pretty hot buy sometime in my lifetime! If sea level rises 5 feet by 2100 Waikiki will be gone, along with everything else that is coastline now. Guess it may be a lot more commonplace to get around by boat in the very near future.

Here are a couple articles about it.

Mr To, Global warming is a very misunderstood topic. The major most concerning effect of GB is the fact that the ocean "conveyor belt" or the major current that regulates the worlds temperatures, will shut down. There is some evidence that it is already slowing (although its controversial). If the conveyor belt does shut down then the ultimate effects of GB is that lower latitudes will get super hot and higher latitudes will get super cold. So in actuality some place will get very cold because of GB. So if you think you're cold now, keep driving that huge honking SUV and you'll be freezing that cute butt of yours off.

To anyone that says I only screw around on this forum: SUCK IT!

Now I'm confused -- is that seriouspoopoopaddler, or regular poops? I don't know how to react to that informational yet accusing yet defensive yet environmentally-conscious post, except with applause. Especially for the part about the "huge honking SUV"...

Paddlelikeagirl, its poopoopaddler because seriouspoopoopaddler never gets defensive and never harbors any hostility. basically the last sentence in the post dictated the choice.

PLG, please see this link:

poops

Ah, thank you for the clarification. I should have known. Thank you also for expanding my vocabulary -- can't wait to use "gashole" in a sentence :)

I'm no gashole!

Here's how I roll... If I could fit my boat on a bicycle, I would.

Now that's hardcore. Reminds me of the good old days(?) windsurfing in Vancouver in the winter. Then I realized that I didn't have to live in a place where doing what I wanted involved suffering. Gimme that warm weather.

Oh and it should also be noted that if GB does occur as everyone says it is less people will die a year. Currently, almost 2 times the amount of people die from cold conditions that from hot conditions. So GB could actually save lives.

Am I missing something? Not sure how that last picture relates. Looks like they are being enviomentally concious by carrying in one trip what most people would take five trips to do.

#11 Mon, 04/21/2008 - 10:52am

Change is the only constant in nature. For most of Earths history both polar ice caps were liquid .

If anyones ` getting too hot in Hawaii we can do a house trade next Winter.
