Stingray vs. Zephyr?

I just can't decide which one to buy. The Zephyr is way newer, but that Stingray just looks so damn fast! I know everyone always says, "it's the motor" so I checked it out...
...the 1970 427 small block LT-1 in the Stingray put out 370 hp, and the 2006 Zephyr borrows a Duratec V6 from the Mazda 6, (??) which puts out 221 hp. Now, I know that the Stingray's output was measured in SAE GROSS, rather than SAE NET horsepower, but 221 vs. 370? I think that the choice is obvious.

The Zephyr DOES have heated seats though, which feels nice on my butt...

If it helps any, I'll be using these to race the 1/4 mile.

...also, when I said "butt", I meant "ass".

I think you hit it on the head when you said the Stingray "looked fast." Let's face it, most of us don't win the race. But here's what I've noticed....you can't tell that by the picture the guy takes at the finish line. As far as anyone NOT related to my obscure paddling life is concerned, I did win that race. They can't tell. It's just a picture of me. And I need to look fast so the illusion is real. I always try to make a "winning" face when I know the guy is taking the picture. So 50 years from now when my grandkids are looking through my crap after my funeral, I will have won every race. As far as they know.

So don't be fast....just look fast. The stingray looks fast.

They cant pack canoes ...you need a truck to pack canoes. if I was forced to get a over expensive overrated status symbol it would be a Vet. A 2008 Chevy Corvette with a 6.2L V8 with 436 hp with all the bells and whistles. but I wouldn’t .I love my Maggie. That’s my truck Maggie.

#2 Fri, 04/25/2008 - 5:50am

Goto, for the last time, its all about personal choice. you'd be an idiot to take advice from anyone on here. Go out, test drive them and choose one that you like. What works for one may not work for another.

But since you asked I suggest you consider this one...

Check this dude out. Didn't know you could do this in this car.

All gotta say is BADASS

here's a picture of my buddy's new stingray.

alt text

it is fast as hell. so fast in fact that it can sting your foot without you even realizing it. obviously the stingray shown above is much faster than the zephyr shown below. however, if you really want to make a great exit, the zephyr is the way to go. you always want to leave people with that lasting impression.

alt text

hope that helped!

BTW goto, i think you're really on to something with the heated seats. i'm sure a lot of people would be happy to have their goolies nice and warm during a cold seattle paddle.

#6 Fri, 04/25/2008 - 9:08am

I'm good at warming goolies!

#7 Fri, 04/25/2008 - 9:11am

Are those chines on the Hindenburg?

#8 Fri, 04/25/2008 - 11:38am

Crap Jibofo, good call! Damn the hindenburg is chock full of chines. I guess its proof positive that chines aren't always better. Unless you're trying to make a huge gigantic ball of flames, then the chines are friggin badass.

Can't stop laughing you guys ...

Also cracking up thinking of the person looking this site over for the first time and wondering what all the chine talk is.

I'm ruined as I see chines in everything now.

#11 Fri, 04/25/2008 - 10:12pm

hah. maybe that's why karel named it the zephyr. since the both have chines. they should call up berlin and see if there is some potential cross promotion there. imagine the jaws dropping as team riders with worldwide sponsorships are flown to races in their own private zephyr. now that would be some team deal!

#12 Fri, 04/25/2008 - 10:24pm

And if you're an outriger connection team rider not only will you arrive in a zephyr, you'll have one waiting for you no matter where you travel because of the international agreement.

I say we fill both the blimp and the booats with hydrogen.

My goodness dear mister Mark. Your posts are so pleasant yet wasteful. What kind of boat do you actually paddle, if you do indeed paddle?

If not, would you consider paddling my ass please?

You seem so lovingly full of yourself that my sphincter is twitching with delight.

#23 Sat, 04/26/2008 - 6:22pm

Dear 247365 how I came to be here was quite by the generosity of fuzerider who is local in maine and sponsored my model Kaitlyn McElroy ..and posted a link to her photo...and all of a sudden I got ushered in for 4 days..and made some spoof photos for Rambo ..and posted them here

I am not a paddler true...I am an artist ..I merely came here to thank Fuzerider for posting my link to Kaitlyn ..who uses his Stingray boat and he took photos of....
.so I had to join to post in the forums merely to thank him and then Jim and Rambo started posting and for .a few days I felt welcome here even though I am not a paddler

Here are the spoof photos I did which gained me a few days ..acceptance here

To 247365

It was this forum post by Fuzerider 5 days ago that led to my joining here to post a comment to him Thats all that was intended then he started sending me bunches of photos to manipulate correct and try and make comical I felt welcomed for the work I did ..even though I am not a paddler

I see in the article that Kaitlyn McElroy ( they have her name spelled wrong) finished 3rd in womens. Kaitlyn goes to school up here in Maine and paddles outriggers here with us locals. I`ll attach her photo.

i don't understand half the stuff you post, but don't care...it's all part of the noise, so post away and have fun

What did I miss ? I was on the road doing demos for fine Hawaiian ocean canoes from Outrigger Connection .

No problem..to those that need a helping hand I recommend
http://colonblow.com

http://www.colonblow.com/testimonials.htm

I realize now upon reflecting that in a computer world perhaps colon blow is a good idea as it speeds up the LOG OUT process

With a couple of days use one can blow a 20 foot python tape worm outta their butt..reduce the belly chines and feel much lighter and healthier...not to mention keeping their PH balance in tune which leads to healthy bone and organ and tissue development strong muscles and of course good rowing arms for the paddlers :-)

Mahatmark
First thing you've got to learn is that we PADDLE. We do not row. Rowers look where they've been, paddlers look where they're going. Its not rocket science.

#29 Mon, 04/28/2008 - 5:36am

Jibofo
I like that its always good to look where one is going but as the Great Karnack said , its always good to remember where one has been and to not lose sight of that :-)

#30 Mon, 04/28/2008 - 7:31am

Mahatmark, literally cannot understand any of your posts. What, how, who are you talking about, who are you, what are you doing here? I am totally confused.

As for 247365, you should really try and get to know him, he is truly a beautiful soul, one in which will enrich your life beyond anything you could ever imagine.

As for the colon blow deal, if anyone needs it I think its you. You seem way stuck in many different ways.

Poops on all of us!

#31 Mon, 04/28/2008 - 8:31am

Again ...I came here merely to post the images that were spoofs of Fuzerider and rambo because Fuzerider included an image from one of my web galleries of a woman triathylete Kaitlyn McElroy ..who is very famous, and was my model..and is a friend of Fuzeriders and Why should it matter ...If you read the strings of my posts most were in grateful thanks that my image gallery got so many hits because Fuzerider added a link to my image of Kaitlyn and his image of Kaitlyn paddling one of his Stingray 2 crafts...The colon blow actually is hilarious and since the other guy was referencing that he wanted to stick a paddle up my ass, and that he flies the gay flag ..I thought only to post humor and not aggravate those of you who it now seems do not want me to even be here

#32 Mon, 04/28/2008 - 9:40am

If you all would be so kind, I would like to explain something to all my dear paddling brothers and sisters out there. I wanted to receive the paddle, not administer. I am strictly a catcher. I never pitch.

Now that issue is cleared up. So please let us all go forward in love and prosperity from this blessed moment on. Not only is every soul precious, but so is the bottom to which it is lovingly attached.

Peace love and prosperity to all.

#33 Mon, 04/28/2008 - 10:12am

Colon blowing, who's pitching, who's catching (not that there's anything wrong with that), etc. C'mon, I think we're sinking to a new low here. Even tripe is a more pleasant topic.

Mahatmark, where in this post does it say he wanted to stick a paddle up your ass? I think you are reading what you want to read.

You are most certainly welcome here mahatmark, i never said you weren't, I was just totally confused by all your posts. Are you foreign?
It was like gibberish.

This thread is now officially a downward spiral of ignorance and chaos. Thanks to everyone for their support and contributions.

e02060, you are most welcome!

You should blame Goto for all this. He started this thread. Its all his fault.

Many of my endeavors end up this way. I am especially not proud of this one.
Apologies to everyone.

With all the love in my heart, goto.

At least no ones mentioning chines on this thread and I`m certainly not going to be the first to do so.
