Pueo OC1

Anyone want to lead this one off ?, I`m always curious to learn about new boats , features , performance and stuff.

Submitted by fuzerider on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 9:54am

Well, in it's debut weekend the Pueo got 2nd place in M2M on Saturday, and 3rd place in the Moloka'i Solo on Sunday... and neither of those guys paddling it even own one to train on.
They're available to order NOW. Call or email Luke.

If you want to check it out in person - from the website www.kamanucomposites.com:
After being open for the last seven months, Kamanu Composites is finally having a Grand Opening. On May 5th we will be celebrating the completion of our Kailua shop and introducing our new OC-1 and V-1 canoes. Since the OC-1 season is drawing to a close and everyone is burnt out from training too much, we are going to be hosting a paddling clinic with John Puakea and Danny Ching. Following the clinic will be free food and prize giveaways (including a new canoe). If you are interested in coming please send an email to info@kamanucomposites.com so that we can make enough food.

Starts at 5pm, the paddling clinic begins at 6pm.

For directions to the shop: http://kamanucomposites.com/contact

WOW! New Pueo, and mystery-unnamed-rudderless V1 too! Giveaway for a new canoe! Free food!

I am SO there.

9 out of 10 paddlers prefer the taste of the Pueo to either Scorpius or Zephyr...

#2 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 10:58am

Id like to come to that party , Ill see if Karel can send the company jet over to pick me up.

#3 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 11:24am

FUZERIDER You should just start paddling you should make it here by then

#4 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 11:28am

Hey Goto,
Any images of this new canoe? There are only two canoes on the website - the Kainalu and Kaimana... do you have some images you could post? Cheers.

#5 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 11:32am

Fuze
Or if not the company jet, at least the company zeppelin.

#6 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 11:35am

Goto, your hyping abilities suck. You forgot to make unverifiable claims about the canoes' design features and bogus promises.

Try this...Kamanu Composites new Pueo will take your paddling to new levels. This canoe has a (insert some feature here), which is guaranteed to make the canoe fly in flat water and in the roughest patch of ocean you can find. Danny Ching utilized this (insert feature here) to its fullest extent when he blew off the starting line and led the Molokai solo. Without the (insert feature here), he surely would have been left in the weeds.

Not only do you get a superior canoe when you buy from Kamanu Composites, but you become part of a worldwide team. We guarantee that wherever you decide to paddle in the world you will have a canoe at your disposal, a team of masseuses (with happy ending included of course), and access to a fully stocked bar.

If you are unsatisfied with our product, you are free to discuss it on OCpaddler.com where we will register anonymous user names to attack your credibility and trash your reputation.

#7 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 11:40am

That was pretty funny Kimo. You actually made me laugh a little. Thanks for that.

#8 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 11:45am

wait a minute, that was taken right out of Fuzeriders new book "how to sell boats", Page 105. Kimo can't take credit, that is plagiarism.

Ahhhh crap another serious thread going to sarcasm land, I should go slam my fingers in a car door for being a part of it.

#9 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 11:58am

LOL...

I wanna be a team member just for the happy endings. How could you possibly unsatisfied with a product that provides a happy ending?

#10 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 12:01pm

If the Kamanu Composites team gets happy endings, it's almost guaranteed that another worldwide team will provide full servicing.

You might be disappointed with happy endings then.

#11 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 12:22pm

Kimo, thanks for the constructive criticism. next time I'll be sure to make the appropriate claims/promises.

I DID say free food though, right? I wish you hadn't mentioned the happy endings... free food is a solid crowd-pleaser, but it always gets upstaged by happy endings.

Here's something you can suck on 'til Monday...

#12 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 12:25pm

For a happy ending I`d paddle a round bottom boat too.

#13 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 12:30pm

Goto asked me upload a picture of him in the new pueo. I got to see the boat and it looks super good. I hear you're super locked in. I also hear it ROCKS!!!

#14 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 12:34pm

I'll paddle my Pueo on the 18th, sight unseen ...hm?

#15 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 12:54pm

Hmmm

#16 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 1:12pm

Didn't know you were there Goto...

#17 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 1:14pm

now that was the single best picture ever on ocpaddler.

ROFL

#18 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 1:24pm

Why settle for one rocker, goto's got two of 'em, plus, check out the innovative 'no paddle needed' steering system. Does look like he's none too happy about the other two guys though...

#19 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 1:28pm

Yeah, I was TOTALLY about to pass Jr. and Danny, then my frickin' chase-boat hit me!

...unwritten rule #1 for chase-boat drivers: Don't crash into your paddler.

Seriously though, that photo is a work of art.

#20 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 1:44pm

Actually those aren't rockers, they are super high tech hydrofoils. Notice the hull is above the water line. Super super fast boat. The new pueo prototype was retrofitted with 2 of the hydrofoils.

Afraid that the new pueo was going to run him out of business Jr. paid off Goto's driver to run him over and forever destroy the prototype. Today the only pueo you can get is without the hydrofoils. Too bad, it had a lot of promise.

Checkout the new and improved picture. BADASS

#21 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 2:19pm

Danny and Mael both said the boat was unreal fast. You add the wings to the sides to help lock you in and add some mass to help the boat flow a little better. Then you take a little tail rocker out and change the deck so it looks, and feels faster, and you have one fast ass flying Pueo. (note Pueo is Hawaiian for Owl)

Remember Life is Simple, Eat, Sleep, Paddle

#22 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 2:38pm

Yeah too good,
I particularly dig the blue jumpsuit... really adds to the overall hi-tech look that is going on with this watercraft... I don't see the 'wings' you are talking about though, Tpoppler

#23 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 2:42pm

The wings Tpoppler is talking about can better be seen in goto's photo from above the canoe. Where the seat area widens out adds volume to the canoe without changing the hullshape or disrupting the flow of water. This extra volume gives a bit of extra bouyancy which helps you jump over bumps easier.

#24 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 2:56pm

Haha coconut and I were both referring to goto's "boat." Tpoppler is is being serious and we're not. hahhaha that is funny shiznit!

#25 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 3:10pm

#28 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 3:27pm

Well , put up the junk ones then . anythings better than nothing at all.

http://maineoutriggerchampionships.blogspot.com/

#29 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 3:31pm

you have to wait till monday because on monday you can not only see pictures of it, you can hold it, and love it, and caress it, and if you like you can lick it but thats just gross. You could probably hump it but then I dunno if the dudes would like that.

Anyway Fuzerider relax, there are no chines on it. just super fast hydrofoils.

#30 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 3:36pm

Now this is just getting weird - hey goto, is this guy one of your mates?
Reckon its time to go paddle..

#36 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 4:06pm

OK i agree, this is too much man. Mahatmark, maybe you should start your own thread to post these...

I think he is trying to prove his photo editing skills are better than ours, coconut.

Mahatmark, you win, your editing skills are superior to mine. I am impressed with your abilities.

#37 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 4:17pm

Wow, the snowmen are rad but probably do belong in another thread. I can also think of a lot more things that I could use $40,000 dollars for, Imagine how many Pueo's you could buy with that sort of money...

#38 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 4:17pm

No way poops, the Goto on the high seas was classic!

#39 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 4:23pm

Look at the third place picture on Y2Kanu and you'll see Danny in a new Owl, wings and all.

#40 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 4:47pm

#43 Tue, 04/29/2008 - 6:40pm

I`m still looking for those "wings" on the puey ?

http://maineoutriggerchampionships.blogspot.com/

#44 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 1:58am

If you go on monday for the grand opening you can see the wings first hand and caress them.

Plus you get free food.

#45 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 8:34am

The boat is great. It's comfortable, surfs well, runs great in the flat, and makes me look fast. (Sorry no chines boys)

Johnny, Luke, Keizo, Kelly and the rest of the gain at Kamanu Composites did a killer job on this new design. I cant wait to get one.

Maybe I can win a free one at the grand opening Monday. Hope to see everyone there.

#46 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 9:03am

Danny,

Your paddling speaks for itself but your hype sucks. We all know that hype sells boats so you guys are going to need more than a solid product, grand opening parties, and free giveaways. I can make my services available for a generous fee.

#47 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 9:27am

what are you talking about kimo? no hype skills for their launch party? wasn't this their last party for the kainalu?

practicing for the big party

#48 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 10:08am

Y'all want hype?
That was actually me, paddling Sunday, wearing a masterful disguise of Danny. Normally Im slow and cant surf but the new Pueo is so good it actually made me look like the real deal.

#49 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 10:15am

this boat dosn't need hype, it kicks ass, end of story

#50 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 6:14pm

Will
I took it that Kimo was joking, what with the offer of his "services for a generous fee".
The important question is will Poopoopaddler be partaking of plentiful plates off the pupu platters at the paddling party presenting the Pueo canoe?
Add to that.

#51 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 12:29pm

jibofo-

rumor has it he will be making an appearance, but will be masked to hide his identity. he is forever worried about being hounded by paparazzi and autograph seekers.

poopsie arriving at the last race he went to.

#52 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 12:38pm

Poops playfully posing for plentiful paparazzi.

#53 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 12:50pm

Just stirring the pot. I'll waive my fees if Kamanu hosts their party at the Playboy mansion though. That's the kind of hype I'm talking about. I don't know any other boat companies that get you a quality boat and deliver parties with playmates. I guarantee sales will be through the roof. Dacho should be a little embarrassed for posting video of his lady on the pole like that.

#54 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 12:59pm

"Poops playfully posing for plentiful paparazzi" proudly pimping pueo

#55 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 1:15pm

I will be there!

Pupu platter and all!!

#56 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 1:43pm

sorry sorry kimo i was kidding too, didn't mean for to sound mean,
i do like the idea of the generous fee though, good thinkin

#57 Wed, 04/30/2008 - 6:15pm

I need some specifications for this boat , then I`m going to show you people how to properly do the hype thing....

http://maineoutriggerchampionships.blogspot.com/

#58 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 4:24am

you culd alwasy do the grass roots method of advertising........

When the boat kicks ass, it sells itself.

#59 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 8:52am

fuze, how are you going to hype this boat if it doesn't have chines?

#60 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 9:10am

This boat is known to have "wings" and wings trump chines any day.

Hyping a boat that has wings will be tooooooo easy ......

Im working on a secret speed enhancer of my own out here on the east coast. Before I unvail it though ,Im going to prove that it increases speed. I`ll keep you posted.

http://maineoutriggerchampionships.blogspot.com/

#61 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 12:12pm

The Pueo didn't come in second in the M2M, Mael Carey, a great paddler, did. Also in the Paa Solo, Danny Ching came in 3rd. Remember boys, its the paddler, not the canoe that makes the most difference. The Hurricane won m2m and came in 5th in the Paa solo or should we say Tyson Kubo kicked butt and Peter Konohia was aewsome. But not bad for a 8-10 year old design. The new canoes are always refinements of other canoes whether from the same line or from other canoes that have more improved performance. The credit should go to the paddler first and formost.

#62 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 12:32pm

"Wings trump chines". I hope that Karel Sr isn't reading these posts. You'll lose your privelages on the corporate zepellin.

#63 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 12:36pm

The new canoes are always refinements of other canoes

The above statement might sound nice but , it just ain`t so .

It`s always possible for a new canoe to wind up being a dog in the real world .

The Puey has been successfully raced by the team riders so very little chance of it being a slow boat.

http://maineoutriggerchampionships.blogspot.com/

#64 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 12:43pm

paddlefast, you are 100% correct. Mael and Danny both kicked ass - and they could in any boat.
...the canoe they choose to kick ass in is the Pueo... that's what I should have said.

#65 Thu, 05/01/2008 - 1:15pm

Will the puey perform well on east coast waters?

I hope Danny and many others can come to Blackburn this year to test this new boats performance on our waters....

Due to the well known and coveted among team riders international agreement among Outrigger Connection dealer/reps ;) it`s likely that there will be a few " ringers" flown in for this most prestigious and classic event.

And dont forget about Mayors Cup in New York City in the Fall . Mayors Cup has $15,000. up for grabs at this years event . Dont miss it.....

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/31/sports/othersports/31outdoors.html?_r=...

Looks like the big money is for the surfskiers.
