Documentary Film in Production - Flying the Ama aka The Voyagers

Aloha Everybody -

A sincere thank you to all the traffic that has been driven from here to our youtube posting of our trailer for a film that (up until now) has been in pre-production. I'm thrilled to report that our project has been given the full go ahead by the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society for filming their upcoming voyage this July AND we have found independent financing to fund the production.

I'm posting here to let you know that our crew will begin production this May and will be working hard (and paddling hard) through the completion of the film this coming early winter.

The Soul Fabric Films website had a complete overhaul this morning and there's a bunch of info there about our project. We also added a blog that we will update during the production, as well as a podcast that you can subscribe to. We will endeavor to keep the podcast updated with clips from our work in progress as we move forward from here (you can subscribe to the trailer right now however!).

There is room for comments on the both the blog and the podcast, and we're actively soliciting your feedback right now about the name of the film! Please visit us and let us know your thoughts.

You can link to the blog and the podcast right from the navigation bar on the top of the screen.

We're looking forward to producing a film that the entire community can be proud of.

Mahalo for your support.

Zachary and the Soul Fabric Films crew

just to add a little info about the voyage, This is NOT a sailing canoe, it is a chinless bradley Lightning, We will start at Laysan Island and Paddle all the way to Kure Atoll 450 Miles away. Kure Atoll is the Northwest most island in the Hawaiian Chain. The crew is made up of a total of 16 paddlers, We will alternate paddling 1 hour on, one our off for 4 days and Nights, with a three hour break every 6 hour (i think). When this journey is over some of the paddlers will have paddled the entire Hawaiian chain,

For more information visit www.HOCVS.com If you would like to help support the Voyage, and it's mission we can still use some help. You can contact me for details, The HOCVS is a non profit organization. All money raised will go directly towards the voyage and the clean up of Kure. Along with completing the longest known paddle, the end mission is to raise awareness of the trash and debris that washes up on the pristine outer islands, we will be removing as much trash as possible from Kure Atoll at our arrival.

Here is the line up for the Voyage.
Kimokeo Kapahulehua, Kai Bartlett, Chris Luedi, Chris Smith, Chris O'Kieffe, Ryn Hughes, George Rixey, Colleen Kirkely, Anita Anderson, Jamie Woodburn, Matt Muirhead, Dave Lostalot, Pepe Trask, John Benzon, Peter Martin

When you say "Voyage" we here think of the voyaging canoes which are sailing canoes, like hokulea.

The crew that is going are awesome, what happened to kendall, he has done this paddle for the last several years.

Good luck with the film, I am sure it will be unreal.
