I really screwed up this time. I miss judged the breakers and did some real damage to my Vantage.
The boat can be fixed, but the ama is most likely totaled and the aft aluminum i'ako is broke. Yes, I broke an aluminum i'ako.
I'll need to have it looked at by someone who knows better than me, but just incase, does anyone know where to find a carbon Wave blade ama with the screw downs and the i'akos to go with it that fits an older Vantage?
Enjoy the attached photos. If these photos prevent just one idiot, myself included, from miss timing the shore break it'll all be worth it. Well, not really............

That ama damage looks fixable to me , you
re probably right about it being totalled though , repairs could come pretty close to the value of a new one.. If I were you , I
d fix it myself and get a new one as well , that way you`ll have a spare....Aquafiend ???

You may be right about fixing the ama, guys. The only thing that worries me is the front i'ako mount. That mounting bolt is bent, it's not the mounting area that's broke.

My buddy wrecked this ama the day before the Maui to Molokai race, we fixed it that night and it got raced the next day, and on sunday in the solo.
it snapped all the way through behind where the front iako slides in. Its the ama for a kainalu. Moral of the story is bail out before the wave starts to break.
