Stand Up paddling

Just got the latest issue of ESPN the Magazine (the one with Dale Jr. on the cover) and low and behold, in the page 2 segment (actually on page 32) is World Cup Skier Julia Mancuso espousing on the benefits of Stand Up paddling for rehab and cross training. OC-1 has been around for quite a while, but the new kid on the block gets a hit in big sports media.

SUP is great. When people see them they think wow! That looks hard.
its not that hard to paddle them.
surfing with them is the thing to do...

paddlehard.. Stand up is not the new kid on the block its been here way before OC-1 its just comming back but with mordern tools .. i remember surfing contest at queens in the early 80s and they had a few beachboys doing it ..

As for OC-1 it will get its turn in the top sports mags soon enough ..

Yeah, SUP is getting media attention right now, but that lasts for a couple of months if that. Then it will back to a niche sport just like OC is. Face it, both sports are just too difficult for mass popularity. Most people probably get winded walking out to their car and barely have enough balance to keep from spilling their beer.
OC and SUP are our sports. Enjoy them. Let the other 99.9% watch TV.

Have you seen the new show ocean paddler tv? The first segment is stand up paddling surfing at makaha..It is MEAN!
Terrific footage, 20 foot waves and those guys rip.

Brain even said during an interview he got into it for the work out "best work out I have ever had"
