Aloha and G'day from Australia, the 2004 Typhoon Gold coast Cup was held over the weekend in sensational and perfect down wind conditions, 53 crews started the race and getting off the beach at Greenmount tested a few before the race even started.
With a 15knot sth easterly and 2.5m swells the first leg to Cook island was tough going. Once the crews rounded the first turning Bouy at Cook Island it was hammer down all the way to the finish line.
Outrigger Australia set a cracking pace with Ikaika hot on their tails, with a strong tail wind and big ocean swells left over from a recent cyclone we couldn't have asked for better conditions.
After paddling hard, in true Outrigger style, paddlers partyed harder, with the presentations and after party being held at the finish line, it made for a great atmosphere, the beers were cold, the spit roast sensational and the Band was rocking.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the crews that placed and a big thankyou to all the paddlers from around Australia and Overseas for coming to the Typhoon Gold Coast Cup, I hope you enjoyed the race and hospitality and we look forward to seeing you all back next year.
