Hamilton Island Cup 2008 - Full Results UPDATE

This year is the 25th Anniversary of the worlds richest outrigger race, The Poweraid Coca Cola Hamilton Island Cup (was $100,000 but reduced to $60,000 these past few years). Hawaiians have confirmed 2 crews, a Senior Master men ( with Walter Guild, Kamoa Kalama and Steve Cole) and a Golden Master men (Nappy's crew - Anuenue).

Other Internationals are, Tahiti women (Hine Va'a Tahiti), New Guinea (Konedobu Kanu Klab), Hong Kong, Team Grizzlies ( New Zealand - 4 crews), South China Sea and Singapore. Disappointing no Open or Master Hawaiian men this year but i guess the $ has something to do with it.

Wow, cool race, someday I'd like to do the OC6 race. Is the main event the 16km or 42km? Thanks Rambo...pass the "tea".

Bernie

The 42km Marathon (26 miles) is the main event but you must have participated in the 16km 'Round the Island' race to be eligible for the prizemoney. The 16km race is often harder then the big one, especially rounding the southern tip of the island.

Cheers.

I will be doing nightly video updates of the events over the four days and possibly live feed interviews from the Pub (presentation) of some of the winners.

Links will be posted shortly.

Well, its all "done & dusted" as we say here......I just noticed that Rambo promised a week ago to give us live feeds........I havent spoken to him yet, but I understand there were some problems getting access to the net on the island.........be assurred though, he had a heap of cameras on board a range of waka.........I believe he is busying himself editing the footage for his cinematic crowning achievement!
