Follow a structured periodized training plan around your racing schedule and desired races you want to peak for. That is the best way to go. Then stick to that for results.
I would also recommend reading the Advanced Marathon book by Pfitzinger to apply the concepts and build your own routine based on your time commitments and the mileage of events you want to do. Any training plan should be tailored to your individual needs, fitness, weak areas and TIME COMMITMENT! ;-)
