State Regatta - Lanikai or Hawaiian?

Its going to be fun to watch. If Lanikai can hang close after all the youth races, they might be able to put the hammer down in the adult races, especially the Men's races. Going be interesting....

Any predictions?? I say its a toss up...need to know how many crews each qualified for States.

Anyone else out there want to be bold and make a prediction?? Board is dead today. Trying to stir up some dialog.

Jaws Out....

Lanikai.
Reasons: The men from Hawaiian have lost Kai. So, don't expect to see them win the soph/sr races ALTHOUGH,you could see them in 2nd/3rd. You'll see a tough battle between Kailua and Hawaiian for the 2-3 spot in those races. As far as points go, Hawaiian could make up the point difference by 2 to 3 points per race with better placings than Lanikai in the keiki events. Not sure if Kai O Pua and Tui Tonga have fixed things enough to concentrate their talents and challange. I think Hawaiian may go after the freshman/jr race. Trouble is Lanikai has depth, and other clubs may be thinking the same thing but it'll be the best chance for high points for HCC.
Lanikai's women are stronger this year, so they'll grab more points than in the past few years. Hui Lanakila women vs Waikiki beachgirls, so HCC girls may go to fresh/jr as well. possibility...
All points count with 1 point if you even show up. The clubs on Maui have done a good job of grabbing lanes, and, your'e right, it all depends on how many crews qualify and how many points the other clubs will take. Alot of the smaller clubs can concentrate their efforts on a few good crews. So getting points will be tough in any race. Talent statewide has gone up bigtime. That's what it's all about. good luck to everyone. It'll be great racing. But, my thought? Lanikai...

Hawaiian. There's a whole lot more races than just the men races.

But I know nothing about Hawaiian so its just a wild guess.

My money is on Shell Vaa or OPT. The Tahitians will take it in a landslide.

What were we talking about again?
