I believe they are called Pineula Va'a. from Hilo. Not sure the story on Wilder and Steve Blythe making those boats.
edit: looking at that photo closer it's looks like the vantage ama but the boat looks a little different. Not too sure now. It looks like it's in the Wave Blade, Polaris, Vantage family.
Also I'm not sure about the whole Hyper story.

Hey speaking of my sore butt, this looks like the ultimate seating and adjustable iakos...In the photo set from this race it seems like Makana Alii's are on every other canoe too.
