South Pacific Year

I have the fortune of getting to spend a year in the South Pacific learning about outrigger canoes - how to build and paddle them. I'm currently in the Cooks and I'm planning on going to Tahiti, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa, and possibly the Marshall Islands (I'm all ears for other locations too). I was wondering if anyone out there was from these places or knows people in them and could introduce me? I am especially looking to contact boat builders, paddlers, and anyone who might have a spare room or couch I can rent to stay while I'm there.

The Cooks are great but there isn't any boat building going on here until November or so, so I'm thinking of heading to Tahiti soon. If anyone out there can help me, feel free to send me an e-mail, krauss.andrew@gmail.com . Kiezo's been a great help so far and suggested that you guys may be able to help out too! Thanks in advance!

Andrew, that sounds like some adventure, you are a lucky man indeed.

I would email that countries Paddling Association who could then put you in contact with clubs in the areas you're going to. You will find lot's of info here for contacts > http://www.hawaiianh2o.com

Let me know if you plan on coming to Australia.

Cheers Rambo
