debmaui-advertising

We have bashed others for using this forum for overt and subversive advertising. And I have been bashed for my comments. So I guess we shouldn’t discriminate against Deb.

Deb-We get it-you have great condos and rental properties on Maui. We will all immediately call you in the future. Now please buy advertising from OCPaddler rather than post in classifieds over and over again

WOW!!! Reading through this blog is most interesting. I could take time to defend beautiful Maui & my “Personal Website” on mostly of what is negative bashing, however it is a waste of time and as long as folks continue this bashing sport several more folks will quietly check my “Personal Website” .

A sincere mahalo and aloha.

Kona was Great this year! Mahaloz Big Island and Kai Opua

Aloha Kona J—

Mahalo for your edit on the 1st paragraph of your initial posting. Still curious as to what is your name, do you paddle, and if so with what club? If you have anymore concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via my email address.

Kind Regards,
--deb

Kona J—

1st - If you are going to scold me it would be nice to know whom I’m being scolded by.

2nd - If my “Personal Website” has offended any person, please accept my very sincere apologies.

3rd - I posted my “Personal Website” OCPaddler so that all of my friends on Maui and abroad who don’t know that I am residential property manager would find out through a mutual recreational information website and that they can call someone that know & trust for a home.

4th Again this is a “Personal Website” not a “Commercial Website”

With sincere aloha and again my apologies to any person that my “Personal
Website” might have offended.

Mahalo and have a great long distance season, see you in Kona.

Real Estate agents-the very life blood of the Polynesian culture. What would we do w/ out them?

deb
Don't think that kona has any problem with your website. The problem is with using OCP classifieds for commercial purposes. If they become cluttered with everyone and their uncle's businesses, they will cease to serve those who were meant to use it.

You got a canoe to sell, use the classifieds, got a one time deal on a condo for Molokai, use the classifieds. But its not fair to use them to promote your business. I'm sure that Keizo will be happy to sell you ad space.

Deb, we may look, act, and talk like idiots but you attempting pass your obvious commercial classified and website as a personal one is really insulting us.

The statement: "I posted my “Personal Website” OCPaddler so that all of my friends on Maui and abroad who don’t know that I am residential property manager would find out through a mutual recreational information website and that they can call someone that know & trust for a home." is a very pathetic attempt at that. Come on, how stupid do you think we are? I mean I can smell the BS coming off your keyboard all the way over here. I also like how you put personal in quotations. Its just that "personal."

Definitions by Websters:
Personal: Of or concerning one's private life, relationships, and emotions rather than matters connected to one's public or professional career.

Commercial: Making or intending profit; having profit rather than artistic or other value, as a primary aim.

Deb, it is clear that you are using your website for PROFESSIONAL matters and PROFIT, rather than making a pretty website for people to look at. If you can tell me you are not making any profit at all(at $3500/mo I know thats not true), you're renting out houses out of the kindness of your heart, then fine, its a personal website. But until then I'm gonna say KONA J is the man for pointing this one out. You da man!

DO NOT RENT OR BUY ON MAU'I RIGHT NOW. Rental rates and housing cost in some places are well over O'ahu housing market rates and there utilities infrastructure is just NOT keeping up with the growth rate of the island. Don't be fooled by the smiling real estate agent giving you the charming sales pitch. If no one buys, the markets going to have to drop again.

WAIT and be PATIENT. It will drop! Would you spend $10,000 on a new OC-1 Zepher that does not even include a Karel Jr. single engine state of the art power propulsion system or a Polaris with out Kai motors attached or a Pueo without a Danny turbo props?? Of course not!

For now, go to REI and get one of those nice four bedroom camping tents and apply for a camping permit at your nearest friendly city clerks office- you'll have lots of money left over to purchase one of those sweet V-1s that Kamanu Composites supposed to be coming out with real soon HINT HINT WINK WINK.

I love Mau'i - just not the rip off housing prices :-}

I love V-1s, just can't wait to get my hands on one!

Im in the retail biz and I have to agree that her statement is intended to fool the listener. If they are your personal friends why dont you just call them all up? Or to make it easy just send all your personal friends a personal email?

Deb, my favorite part in this is when you go cute-bully, as in:
"Still curious as to what is your name, do you paddle, and if so with what club?"
I have a feeling Kona is bully-proof.
Nice try though.

hi deb,

i was trying be creepy and spy on your "personal" webpage, but i wasn't able to find anything personal on there.. i was hoping to find out if you like vegetables and vitamins... but hey, at least the house in kula is not too pricey..

all kidding aside, i can really care less about the classified- i personally think that's what it's there for, but it is true, they that hold the line are being consistent, so don't take offense. don't do the lash out and pull out the big shovel and get diggin routine- it never ends well, although it is always entertaining.

As Dacho clearly points out - all these comments, good or bad, keeps the debmaui advertising alive, as Deb gets the last laugh, laughing her *ss off while her web page gets more hits than she ever got at any other time, with curious onlookers wondering what all the hype is about as they go to her classified and then her "personal" web page.

Deb, if your objective was to incite attention to your web page, job well done - you're smarter than all brain cells combined (including myself). The female brain has once again proven to be far superior to all male brains combined on this post!

Have fun in Kona! Wish I was thea!

For the rest of us, why not end this sillyness and go back to talkin paddling jibberish. :-}

I would have to say her site is "personal" in that I can pretty much tell that it was made by her or some family member that picked up Front Page for Dummies or Front Page in 24hrs or some book along that title (the meta element also states FP was used). Also, some common bad practices of personal sites include many fonts (there is at least 6 fonts being used, 3 in the page and at least 3 more for the icons/title); adjustable frames, not using css; menu items that aren't menus/links (same for footer); using non breaking space for formatting; a deceptive date that makes you think when this page was last updated; releasing a site before it is even remotely done; and a bunch more that I got too lazy to list. Other than those "personal" items, yeah I agree with the others, its a commercial site. Oh, as a side note, I do like the site because it is a great example for my students on how not to code/design site.

I like looking at the classifieds and rather keep it selling/offering personal stuff (like a decent paddle for sale that I can pick up one day to keep on the iako for safety).

maybe she should kick back some commission to OCP for the amount of hits she gets on her "personal" website.

It would pay for our OCP Mafia t shirts.
