WOW, Jibofo after the big shovels I’m checking out the “paddling profiles” interesting. Hope this doesn’t coz me grief… from Kona J
If you don’t go mixed how are you going to have fun on the island? Anyway have fun and good luck with the cat-crossing!

This was my first one and boy was it an experience. I have only been paddling for about 5 months. All I have to say is we finished!!!! Our crew was primarily Novice guys who have never paddled the long distance races.
Congrates Ladiver. I started paddling around the same time you did and wonder if I could make it (I have paddled 17miles stopped by hip pain) but you guys are really going for it hats off amazing.
I would have come down to meet some OCP but had 1st baby on 4th of sept so that was that.
Our team went this year for our first crossing (except for two of us who had done it before) We traveled all the way from Vancouver Island in Canada. It is an awesome race and we really enjoyed the “big race” atmosphere. It was our first 9 man race and getting on the podium for open co-ed was just icing on the cake!

Why on Earth would anyone want to paddle for four hours in cold, flat water? I’m just wondering…
On another note: I’ll be there. Just look for the smart-ass wearing the tight shirt.
…and that’s a SCIENTIFIC FACT!

Pretty good accomplishment for a novice without any long distance races under your belt.

We are also getting an English (or make that Aussie) Bulldog named Rambo. We just have to go and pick him up. My wife gets the baby and I get a buddy.

I hope you got to see the wrigley memorial and the inside of the casino. Way to go.

Yes we walked up to the memorial but we couldn’t get into the casino, unfortunately it was closed.
I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Catalina to spend more time exploring.
