How come none of the OC manufacturers are incorporating the adjustable pedals and foot braces like those found on almost all makes and models of surfskis? This inovation is an important one for improved performance and paddler comfort. Whos going to be the first manufacturer to come up with proper footwells for OC1s ????
Trim is incredibly important to boat performance . If you can`t adjust it , you could be stuck with an out of trim canoe.
Many builders these days have come out with comfortable cockpits , yet none have adjustable pedals.
I`m going to make a prediction here that in the not so distant future a manufacturer is going to come out with this most needed option.

Eh Fuze,
Keep telling myself to call you.
Remember the surfski I was talking about ?
I am ever being more influenced by the canoes.
To answer your question …
Maybe Soon come.
Same on the new ( canoe ) paddle.
Sending one out via a couple demo stops along the way.
Really, the best way to go is have both adjustable seat for trim AND pedals for fit.
Aloha,

I’ve seen like 3 or 4 adjustable systems. They all suck, more things to break while 3 miles from shore.

The manufacturer that gets this done will sell lots of boats.

Surely a boat with chines needs no more features to sell itself.
The idea did cross my mind about the adjustable footpedals awhile ago but they are definitely not as solid as the set ones. Also it would add weight as you would have to reinforce the cockpit a bit more because the pressure from your feet would be distributed differently?

Adjustable pedals are the norm in surfski. They are reliable, the cables will break before the pedal system. They add weight, 2lb max. They allow the paddler to sit in the right place, i.e. wher the boat’s gravity and buoyancy centers are located. Worth carrying that extra weight…

Hiro, I beg to differ. Every adjustable system I’ve seen (twogood, epic, etc) has broken in less than a year.

I’ve got 2 Fenn’s : 1yr old Mako6 and 3yrs old XT. NEVER had ANY problem with adjustable pedals… Of course, I check screws once in a while to see if they get loose, and I rinse my skis with plenty of freshwater after each time I paddle them.

The Fenns are built really well. The cable is rated at something like 750-800#’s.
The ability to seat every paddler in the “sweet spot” outweighs adding a pund or 2…..imho.
Its not a new or innovative thought. Everyones been talking about fit or years. I think there must be a reason the builders arent doing it. I have no idea if this is true but perhaps they dont want a boat that is easily adjustable.

Lucky thing for me - I’m 180 lbs. so every boat I paddle is exactly the way I like it: nicely trimmed… just like my pubes.
…and that’s a SCIENTIFIC FACT!

Will you kind and loving fellows please direct me to this bar? Here in California it is often difficult to find a beautiful and peaceful hangout. I am always searching for like minded and caring paddlers with whom I can share my thoughts of love and paddling.

As a founding member of the “Cult of the Tight Shirt One”
We must catalog all of the photos of Catalina. I believe that Goto is taking tight shirt to a new level. I hear that he is trying to get sponsored by Speedo- Fastskin LZR Racer Suits

that’s probably why i didn’t recognize goto right away when i met him- he had his jersey on and hadn’t changed into his spidey suit yet.
side note: can a place named the water hose be anything BUT a gay bar?

The Epic V-10 adjustable foot pedals are really hard to change - they seem to be super snug in there - for those that own Fenn’s are those built the same way?? I’m thinking about switching to a Fenn.
