Music on the Water

Anybody listening to music on the water? I started bringing a waterproof shuffle on board with me for long pieces in the one man, I'll probably do it during races too (volume low-med so I can still hear everyone passing me). I think it makes me a better paddler - not as much quiet time alone with my thoughts.

Also what are you listening too?

Pretty sure there was a thread on this already. I do know goto likes to listen to anything boy george, michael jackson, or backdoor boys.

Think someone gave me grief the last time this came up for saying that I don't listen to music while paddling. Of course most of the boats on the lake here have 10,000 watt sound systems so I get to hear all the crap that most people are listening to.

With all the sharks around lately I like to listen for them.

Deafening silence of a stroke executed well is enough music for me...when it happens that is...

Can't think of anything sweeter.

Gosh some of you guys have been on the site to long. Maybe some subjects deserve more than one listing.
It is not compulsory to have an answer to all posts...you know.

Hi there, Toa Moana,
If I am out for a "winddown" day, Santana..the old stuff, Albatros, George Benson, Micheal Franks and similar.
If I want to up the pace, ACDC, Bon Jovi, Guns and roses and then onto the Fresh off da boat sounds for the trip back.

Somedays I stick the mp3 on random and get a bit of everything.
However it is also great to have those days when the sounds of nature are suffice and a rythm from within.

So Toa Moana, what sounds make your paddling list.

It is mandatory for OCP Mafia to respond to absolutely every post, even if the response is total drivel.

I'm too lazy to go through old posts, besides those answers would be old - what if someone had an epiphany and changed their mind or music style and were just dying to let their new answer be heard to all OCP readers. I didn't do the post for myself, but for those aching to be heard again.

Besides OCP posts have been getting boring, no new feuds have broken out - I need more sarcasm in my life.

Someone needs to put speakers on their boat and blast their tunes. Bring out the Bagpipes and hope everyone around you gets sick of hearing it and just backs off from sheer annoyance.

Way ahead of you tpoppler. Taped a speaker to a double ski and raced some of the short courses last year in the winter series. Must have been effective cuz we kept winning.

I thought I saw a picture someone posted on here with Thibert Lussiaa using an Ipod during the PA'A molo race? That seems to be a great idea especially during long crossings to keep the mind from going stale.

I had an Ipod in for the Pa'a race in march last year and got taken out by a wave at AD. It's important to be able to hear whats going on around you in the ocean so during the Pa'a molo solo I raced with an Ipod and only had one ear plugged in so I could listen to music and still hear my escort boat telling me my course line.
