Taking an idea from Ocean PaddleSport's "Beautiful Day to Try 16 Skis", I thought it would be great to have a day when interested paddlers can converge at some beach to try all the OC-1 models available in Hawai'i. What would it take to make this a real possibility? Would the various OC-1 distributors be supportive of this idea? Perhaps a week or two after the Moloka'i Hoe? Anyone else interested in seeing this happen?

Great idea.

With all the hard work that Eckhart is putting in to compile the surveys, graphs, spreadsheet, it would almost seem like a natural progression.
One boat I have not seen on the survey list, and maybe its called by a different name(?) is the Makia??
The list:

Makia is from Tiger - a good boat. It is said to be very good in the flat. It has a rather narrow hull.
Some paddlers commented that the narrow hull puts the boat relatively deep into the water. This hinders lateral sliding. The effect: in side on chop and waves the lower back starts to hurt.
Iow, a little side ward slide is good in certain conditions.
The good part of a hull sitting deep is the increased lateral friction. The effect: the increased friction allows the energy of your stroke to go more into forward motion.
PS: a boat show would be nice, but if the boats are not available ...
We will try to collect OC 1 Performance videos in a meaningful format - waiting for the cameras - and post them. Then you can at least get an idea.
Look at the videos already posted.

Thanks Eckhart - is there a place on your blog that you collate all the interestinf information in one place - like the stuff about the Makia?
All this info is a nice compliment to Rambo's locker
He has a bunch of stuff on his site too that talks about the various OC-1s - I wonder if the two can be somehow co-joined in a Wikipedia reference?
There was also a post from "The Teacher" on OCPaddler - the link to that should be saved somewhere. The contributions were awesome on that one as well.
It would be nice to see it all compiled as reference under "OC-1" like some of Wikipedias other entries.

Yes, a compilation is in the OC 1 Comparison Chart .
This chart is incomplete; it would be nice if people that represent these boats would post some data. I don't want to post anything that the manufacturers would consider inaccurate.
Even on the internet you find limited info only. The whole purpose of the blog is to change that.
