respraying gelcoat

Have a old Blue water Kevlar 49 canoe Has been sitting in the sun for years before I got it .The gelcoat looks like it's gone ,But the kevlar and the body look good . What should be done before spraying the gelcoat & what is there to do after I'm done spraying the gelcoat
