Any cheap ways to ship an OC-1 from Maui (or other HI islands) to Oahu?

I want to ship my one man for some races on other islands, but can not find a cheap way to move it. I called the Superferry, thinking that it would only be about a hundred bucks one way to ship, but they won't take any oversized items over 13". It would cost $365 to take a car w/ racks roundtrip that way- not really worth it. Anyone with experience or ideas? Many thanks for any help!

I've never been charged for taking my OC-1 on the Superferry. I just show up with it on roof and as long as it slides under the 8' max head height bar they wave me thru.

Seems everytime we go there are a few people taking canoes back and forth and when asked they all say they were not charged.

I have heard that the people working the phones don't understand and therefore go strictly by the book.

Good luck

I didn't want to have to bring my car back and forth from Maui, as it costs $365 round trip...just wanted to ship the OC1 as cargo, whether with the Superferry or shipping it with another inter-island carrier. My thought was to keep the shipping price under $200.

Young Brothers would be the way to go.

We ship our sailing canoes from island to island and it costs 150.00 one way on young bros. Shipping a one man has to be less then that. When you call to make the reservation, tell them you want a MIXED flat rack..Bubble wrap your canoe and tie it down with it's cover and you should be good to go!

Hope that helps!!
