First Aussie Va'a

The First of many Aussie Va'a (yep it has a cockpit and no rudder it's genuine Polynesian) has just hit the water.
Now we have the capacity to build canoes, I'm predicting Va'a Racing in Australia will explode if the current interest is any guide.
First time I've seen one in the raw without all the wild colour schemes and I'm really impressed with the visual lines of this Va'a, it looks fast. My turn to test paddle this weekend.

Next step is to start a Va'a Racing Association and plan some races.

Any ideas on the retail price at this stage? When can we be expecting the mass produce and where can I place my order? I want to get in early before the list gets too big...

any info would be much appreciated...

No idea of prices or availability just yet, it took some poking and prodding the owner to get that plug put back together as it had to be cut up to ship from Tahiti. As soon as i know i'll post here, possible this Saturday.

They will be manufactured by Zulu Surf Spears on the Gold Coast Queensland.

Lot's of excited paddlers here at the moment

Paddled the Va'a yesterday and really impressed with everything about this canoe. The paddle was a Tahiti Raime and I can see why a heavier blade swing weight is required when paddling Va'a. Wind can be tricky, I'm sure there is a technique to counter this but i had trouble with it yesterday.

Word form the manufacture is, the Va'a Factory canoe is being made under license and will be available in glass and carbon layup.

Travis Grant will be paddling it in the next Oc1 race at Noosa after he returns from Hawaiki Nui Va'a.

Lot's to learn.

Cheers Rambo
