Icing Up

What's the best way to de-ice my zephyr? The extra drag and weight makes for a great workout, but the speed sucks!

Where do you paddle?

It might be possible to coat your boat with something to resist the icing affect. But I am no expert on that.

In Maine...8 deg F with windchill. Freshwater turned us into icecubes. Still fun!

Serious answer .... Wax it the next day you can.

Secondly, really, really make sure its dry inside if you have a chance.

Water running into tiny spaces then freezing has done a lot of damage to more than just boats.

No pics that trip, but will take some next. Cool to see icicles hanging from the ama while paddling. Not cool with them hanging from your nose. Hurts when you pull them out.

Thanks for the ice damage and wax info...
