For those interested:
I put two new sections on my blog 'Clinics' and 'Drills'; it's all videos. You can find some of them on Mindy's site, certainly some on New Hope; I just collected the ones that I liked. They are all good, some are even better. Enjoy it.

Karel Jr gave a clinic at the Oceanside Harbor race yesterday. Someone was filming it. Anyone know if it's posted anywhere?

How did he do in the race?

There will be a surfing clinic in Kailua next month. Hopefully we can get some recordings.
Jibofo, you are right, the cudos have to go to Rambo. A blog is a good place to collect interesting things. They get lost a bit in a forum because of the way that they are archived.
Does anybody have experience with the GoPro versus a Flip versus an Exacti V2 camcorder ? Which one has the best image stabilization ?
Are they too limited ?

I have a gopro and I'm pretty stoked with the quality of the video, haven't tried any of the others though. Mine doesn't like to stay on - even with a constant supply of new batteries, however.
I hear Karel didn't race on Saturday

When's the surfing clinic?
#6 Sun, 12/07/2008 - 10:47am
I found you need Lithium batteries for the GOPRO to work for more than a few seconds, Mine would not stay on either, bought some new lithiums and wella!!
I believe,Karel did not race in O Side
Thanks for the Blog Eckhart, great stuff for those of us jonesing for information!!
Paddle safe all!!

Eckhart, been studying up using your blog. You have some great stuff on there. The video's I've watched so far are really helping me fine tune my stroke.
Thanks.

Cat,
Clarkie doesn't have one as he was just quoting what Eckhart originally posted about putting up new sections and videos on his blog.

Catdailey I do have a blog. Mainly just local stuff for the Inland Outriggers, your welcome to visit. Nothing like the information you will find on Rambo and Eckharts blogs.

My blog of the year goes to Jamie. How about best paddler/surfing magazine? Makai or pacific paddler? Surfer or Surfing? Best short video by Rambo?

A blog is a good way to archive information. It will have material that you are interested in. I try to collect info that analyzes things related to paddling; it's entertaining and instructional.
I want to collect videos of paddlers and boats and see what is alike and what is different. This is not about top paddlers only, just everybody.
I hope that people will use the comment sections in the blog after viewing the videos to add their own opinion.
It takes a while to set things up including waterproof housing for a camera etc..
Mindy, Jamie, Rambo, New Hope, Hiro, Fuze, Clarkie - everybody has a different approach and you can get a different take on things.
A blog makes sense because the info here in the forum is difficult to find - in a blog it is right there to see.
The "Rambo Award For Outrigger Canoe Media Entertainment" is rightly named after Rambo, the first and the best. :)

Herman,
I did film the Karel Clinic (more of a Q & A) in Oceanside and will post it this week. Just got a new computer and i am waiting on a new firewire to download all my footage.
I hope to catch up on most of the races and more women's clinics that i filmed this year but never had the time to post during the season.

Mindy,
Wow! I had just downloaded the women's clinic this morning to watch on my iPod. Do you have any idea how awesome all of your videos are? I've watched the Danny/Johnny clinic series about 20 times along with the Sprint Champion video and now the women's clinic. Here I am in freezing cold Philadelphia, a total beginner who now can only wait until spring, and I have access to some truly wonderful resources.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
