please, could someone be so kind telling me how long was the long course?
mahalo.
#1 Mon, 12/15/2008 - 3:37am
I think it was less than 5 miles. The original post said it was 5.5 miles but with the weather and the surf not fully cooperative the race directors had to modify the course. Also the times some what verify the fact that if the course was 5.5 miles then the winner would of had an average speed at almost 10 mph.

this victory raises luke back to idol status for me.
wow, everyone is really really fast except for me.

great to see Luke win- years of hard work have paid off. Time on the water- the key!! Look out for Luke this year! I bet you enjoyed the ice dunk, Luke!

Luke escaped early, so they dunked Danny...
It was definitely done right. Gentlemanly start time, course appropriate to the conditions, pick up and drop off logistics not required (loop around and finish where you start), little up wind, little cross wind, little down wind, little surfing. It wasn't a long course, but it was fun the whole way. First class event. Thanks to all who made it possible.
