Aug 21 - Kaua'i's Na Pali Challenge Results

[Na Pali Challenge showcases aloha spirit] Garden Island article

The Napali Challenge had all the right conditions, the usual early morning showers in Hanalei with everyone under the pavilion taking instructions for the race. The race was exact 8 am start and the overcast weather kept things cool. The water condition were just right for catching bumps and runners.

The up wind part was pretty forgiving and the new ending was at the Kekaha boat harbor which made it easy for all paddlers and escort boats to unload. The awards, food, and music were held at the harbor house.
The GICRA (garden island canoe racing assoc.) is doing more in up grading this event. Everything worked out good and hoping to draw more clubs to this race next year. It was exciting to see clubs from the mainland and outer islands. Definitely a challenge to try...........Gene Lopez

I wanted to say this race was pretty sweet. Being that I was born and raised on kauai and getting to paddle back home was pretty awesome. The waters can't compare to what we paddle in at Redwood City California (bay area). It was cool to have all the kauai clubs show our mainland club so much aloha. This race is one that I look forward to doing again. Alohas
