The link to a little highlights package I put together. Just tried to give you the feel of the whole race with the camaraderie. Our Canadian visitors rated it very highly because there was no prize money and plenty of friendship in its place.

are there predictors in them there waters?.
Don't tell me you have never seen any... you can't even see your toes when you are ankle deep.

It is the height of the tourist season and the river is clogged with ski boats, lots of wake boats and jet skis, those river rooters muddy the waters. But even on a good day you can only see down a foot.
No crocks down south if that's what your asking. Just spiders and snakes!

What is the speed of the current, and I take it that the route is downstream?

It is just one big downhill race, but unfortunately it is rarely downwind. Ask Rambo the real speed of the current, I used to tell everyone 8knots just to get them there. Stopped doing that when the knives came out!
Each of the five days has their own particular charm, the scenery changes as does the river, it is a real adventure if you take it all in. Helps to block out the pain too. Pain is your friend, she is their constantly to keep you company, learn to live with her like the missus and you will have a great race.

an adventure? hummm
as for pain.... it's an interesting feeling that can border pleasure, for the athlete, not sure but i think most don't notice a negative feeling due to endorphins.... our true friend.
