im pretty sure that maui shaped a few of the outrigger connection canoes, it was something like karel would give maui certain guidelines, and maui would shape it. the wainui seems to be a really good canoe, ive only ridden one once, but it seems to me that no matter how fast you go the nose wont really pearl, it will only jump over the wave ahead. theyre really hard to get though because maui is a fireman, so pretty much he has to build boats on his days off.

Does anybody know when this canoe was first built ? What were the design ideas ?
Maui helped design the Fusion, I heard.

I've yet to see one on the Big Island. I hear they have a following on Kaua'i though.

These boats are built in NZ too. Haven't paddled one yet so can't comment on its performance.
