PA'A Pinky's Race

I did part of the race course yesterday and am currently looking down on the bay. Wave height is supposed to increase by 2 feet from yesterday until Sunday, wind direction is predicted East, and wind speed mid to high 20ies.

I think having a leach ( spelling ? ) for Sunday is a good idea.

For those who do not paddle in Kailua Bay often:
Returning into Pinki's canal:
Coming form Flat Island you enter at a relatively shallow angle right to left through the break zone, trying to get in between sets.
Coming from Bird.... with large waves I try to stay a little - 60 - 70 yards - to the left of the rocks in the break zone, then turn right sharply towards the entry of the canal, because it gets shallow straight ahead, 1 - 2 feet.

Looking out at the bay this morning - it calmed down, less white caps, the wind is still strong.
The forecast has same wave height as today and a little less wind speed for tomorrow morning.
Conditions should be good for the race.

Paddled it this morning 7am from Makai. Big left to right sets inside Rabbit. Uphill grinder once outside all the way to Mokes. Winds from NNW, in the face. Not much to connect until after Flat.

paddled the opposite way from Kailua to Kaimana at around 11:30 and we got some fun side swell to Rabbit Island, got real good after Mokapu, but as far as the race goes, unless it runs backwards from pinkys to makai . . . looks like uphill battle.
