molokai escort price

What is the going rate for escort boat for molokai solo or relay?

Submitted by Jiae on Wed, 03/11/2009 - 1:44pm

Depends, if you know the guy really good then maybe 50 for gas and a case of beer. If you kinda know the guy cause your friend is good friends with him then maybe 200 and a case of beer. If you hire some stranger that has never escorted before and has no clue what he's doing them maybe you'd pay like 300 or 400. If its some seasoned badass then maybe 400 to 800. If its some dude that seasoned, has hot girls/guys (depending on paddler) on his 30' boat along with a shiatsu therapist and sports psychologist them frick, maybe 2000?

Oh and all amounts are in ruples.

poops,
Seeing as the ruble is at .0286 USD thats a smoking deal. I might hire the 30' with the hot babes and just pass on the race.

Oh one more thing, this is the cost in 1993

#3 Wed, 03/11/2009 - 2:45pm

if can can if no can…. tough shit

Adjusted for deflation, your looking at around 20 Canadian Dollars, according to the numbers quoted by poopoopaddler.

My mistake, the numbers quoted above are in canadian dollars. In this economy on any given day with the exchange rate it could be a really good deal or a total rip off.

Anyone with a serious answer to the original question?

#7 Thu, 03/12/2009 - 3:17pm

mumbojumbo

Yes, I'd appreciate a serious answer as well. Several people looking for escorts for the upcoming races. I almost wish there were 2 forum areas - one for the people who enjoy the funny back and forth banter and another for the people who'd like to take care of more serious business.

Well last year I heard that guys were paying $600 - $800.

#9 Thu, 03/12/2009 - 4:14pm

Might be a bit cheaper since gas/deisel was more expensive last year.

#10 Thu, 03/12/2009 - 4:36pm

grovpb4 Unless you have a mate that will do it cheaper its going to be $750.00 US , thats what it was last year and all the drivers were the same, Sounds like your in the twilight zone as I was as a first timer last year, organizing the flights, hire of a canoe and accomodation and support boats is the hardest part of the whole experience, the paddling is a pleasure once youve got all the shit sorted , and yeah I understand how someone trying to be funny isnt the feedback that you were after. It almost feels like its designed to prevent you from entering unless you live in Hawaii and know how the system works.
PM me if I can help with what I learnt last year, and good luck

#11 Thu, 03/12/2009 - 4:41pm

Since when is paddling serious business? I leave serious at the beach, in my truck, in the glovebox, tucked away with a bunch of unpaid tickets. Come to think of it, don't think I do serious.

Poo's first post had more truth in it than he gets credit for.

#12 Thu, 03/12/2009 - 4:43pm

Last year going rate was $700-800 up to $1000+ dependent on vessel, equipment and experience of the driver. The slower crews sometimes have to pay more to convince someone to stay out there for 7+ hours!

"mumbojumbo"
I almost wish there were 2 forum areas - one for the people who enjoy the funny back and forth banter and another for the people who’d like to take care of more serious business.

No need for separate forums, you just need "serious" people to answer faster... Nobody will be bashed for answering. Why do "serious" people wait for you to repeat the question to show up ?

#14 Thu, 03/12/2009 - 5:42pm

Actually yeah. If you make my numbers US dollars then my first estimates are right there. See I was being serious.

#15 Thu, 03/12/2009 - 10:05pm

If you look at the posts asking about escort boats in past years, not once has anyone ever replied wether serious or not.

Good ones are really tough to come by and most people on here that have them, use them, so not too many people gonna give up their captain and risk maybe losing them to a higher bidder.

Private message me and I may be able to put you in touch w/ an escort boat and driver.

#17 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 5:18am

Any babes on this boat Jim?

#18 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 9:09am

Lighten up folks this is a forum as in: A public meeting or assembly for open discussion. Open means open, serious or not. As soon as you RESTRICT to "serious-only" only or anything else it's not a forum anymore.
Please take your humor seriously, or be seriously humorous.

#19 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 10:39am

Kevlon, yes, my humor is specifically directed at you. I am trying to prevent you from entering any Hawaii races that require an escort boat. This is my life purpose. And folks, just so you know, any humor on this forum is designed just for that purpose, to prevent you from entering any races here in Hawaii.

On a serious note, isn't that how it works everywhere not just in Hawaii or in just in paddling for that matter? If you don't know how the system works you usually pay more.

#20 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 10:52am

NO poopoohead Im all for humour as its all that separates us from the apes(besides Charlton Heston and Marky mark in the shitty remake)What I think is really funny is how "seriously "and vehemently you defend your right to be humourous, Dali and the dada ists would applaud you.Maybe its another one of your constitutional ammendements, you have the right to bear arms and the right to taunt confused foreigners.
In response to your serious note,No it doesnt work like that everywhere else. in the last coupla yearsI have organised entering races in France, Tahiti and New Zealand from here and it couldnt of been easier even accounting for the language barrier(in NZ)
Im sure that your spirit of Aloha will be upset to hear this but you can personally make amends as I will be coming over to Hawaii next year,
do you have a nice house? a friendly sister? no wizard sleeves please.
Good luck to all paddlers in the upcoming races.

#21 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 1:20pm

No babes on these boats, poops, just grumpy fisherman kine guys that really know that channel.

#22 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 1:34pm

Hey Poops man I think you pushed it a little too far. You made a funny joke about exchange rates and the price of escort boats for a race on a public forum. Some one took it very personal... about something you said... on a public forum... then went on insulting you and the US constitution... about something POOPOOPADDLER said on a PUBLIC FORUM...

I got an Idea how bout you don't insult people for having a sense of humor... and maybe you contact the race Director if you have any pertinent questions about the race that your traveling thousands of miles to go do... Not ask on a public forum that has posters who are known to poke jokes at anyone and everyone.

But hey we all love a good fight here so please continue I can't wait to see what happens next.

#23 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 7:29pm

I guess its time he makes a reappearance. Poopoopaddler wasn't "vehemently" being serious about his humor, in fact he met his humor with humor and never got personal with his posts (unlike some other people.) Hmm its too bad people are so uptight these days.

In response to your organizing a successful event I applaud you. You did a great job, you set up the race, helped people UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM so they had an easy time. You were an ORGANIZER of the race and was a legitimate source of information. Poopoopaddler is not. (actually there was truth to the post). There is a big difference between you and him.

Like tpoppler said, contact the race director or anyone organizing the race and they'll be happy to help you. Even if you don't speak english.

#24 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 8:13pm

Yeah, what he said!!!

#25 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 8:36pm

1st off, holy shit. this thread combines two of my favorite things 1) the big lebowski (via hank's avatar); and 2) ocpaddler.com's forum.

The common thread between these two is the discussion on the first amendment. Freaking awesome.

Walter Sobchak: Now so far, we have what appears to me to be a series of victimless crimes.
The Dude: What about the toe?
Walter Sobchak: Forget about the fucking toe!
Coffee Shop Waitress: Excuse me, sir. Could you please keep your voices down? This is a family restaurant.
Walter Sobchak: Oh please, dear? For your information, the Supreme Court has roundly rejected prior restraint.

#26 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 8:58pm

Tpop, if you wanna see a good fight, we have to organize a serious fighting are, keizo has to edict some fight rules that should be written somewhere for all of us to read before we are given the right to fight. Anyone who disrespect the rules will have to read every post on every topic of this forum...

#27 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 10:49pm

Serious poopoo paddler, Me serious?uptight? I was taking the piss. With references to Planet of the Apes borat and Salvador Dali I thought it was obvious, Im sorry you didnt get it, maybe it ws a bit too weird, surely not for the Big Lebowski fans . its hard to take any thing serious in cyberspace as it doesnt really exist.

#28 Fri, 03/13/2009 - 10:47pm

Welcome to Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club! Third rule of Fight Club: if someone yells "stop!", goes limp, or taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule: one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule: the fights are bare knuckle. No shirt, no shoes, no weapons. Seventh rule: fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.
