Yes, that is the question, one day or multi day event?

another key question is how much time you have a week to train and how much training you're doing now.

I have a ton of pdf files I can send you based on marathon, triathlon, and bicycle training. Email me directly at: henderson808@gmail.com and I can share with you.

one day race. Problem is that all clubs in my neck of the woods train for a 25km v6 marathon distance as being the max. frustrating.

Currently i train 6 days a week with a long paddle on sunday, monday rest. weights swimming and cycling thrown in after that. 60 - 70 km per week paddling. I have a background in endurance sport and have grown up in the ocean.

Kawika93 thanks will email you. and guys any help will be much appreciated. Maybe we will meet on a start line some where.

Thanks again.

I'm assuming that you're pretty much gung-ho into paddling long distances? So for that, let me suggest what was always told to me that "less is more and more is less." For no matter how much you train, it really doesn't matter if your race pace isn't as fast as your target competition. So scout around for opportunities where you can compare yourself to the fast competition. The fast paddlers usually train in groups, so you can discreetly check yourself against them without interfering. With that feedback, you can adjust your training accordingly to increase or maintain your pace.
