Hi guys, here is tip when shipping your canoes..Make a reservation for a "mixed" flat rack. The cost should be about $150.00. We do this every season with them for our sailing canoes. The word Mixed means they (YB) could put other stuff on the flat rack, they never do and you can load it with all your one mans!

Hope this helps to bring your costs down.

Hey Sueo,

Terry is right. And for a MIXED pallet you do NOT need to make reservations. I just spoke with Lenora Trask from Young Brothers customer service in Honolulu. If you RESERVE a pallet or flat rack it is considered YOURS and you will be charged the full fee for a pallet because they will then not load anyone else's stuff except yours on it. However its a great idea to try to "team up" with others to try to ship your canoes side by side and tie down all at the same time. If at least 3 and maybe up to 5 boats all go together they tend to measure the entire length, width, height etc. and once divided, give you a better price. This measuring deal gets a little fuzzy though. I've paid as much as $77 one way for a boat and as little as $35 for same boat. How you figgah???!!! Its the nature of the shipping beast. I think Kegle and Pemberton are shipping an oc2 -so contact them. Between you them and the other guy you may have a decent group. Adding a two man to your group gets a little tricky...call me later on that and I'll give you more details.
