"Most women ever," now that's super wonderful. Just wondering why the gals insist on paddling oversize canoes? Why drive an SUV, when you can rip on a sportscar? Arlene demonstrated this in the State race, so an additional hour and a half out on the water doing the Channel should be a piece of cake.

This is none of my business but out of sheer curiosity I have to ask:
What boats are the oversized boats and what boats are you telling the women they should be paddling??

Koacanoe your just mad cause girls bet you on a SUV Canoe

Poopoo: When you momona like me, then no canoe is oversize. But, for the 110 to 140 pound paddler, I would think their performance would improve considerably if they paddled a canoe that's sized proportionally to them. Four canoes may probably fit these paddlers: Naia Iki, Makia, Fuze and Pegasus. Even these canoes might require small or even major modifications, either by the manufacturer or independent composite craftsman to fit and meet the needs of the paddler. Let's face it, a 125 pound paddler on a large high volume canoe will not perform the same as a 200 pounder on the same canoe and vice versa (a 200 pounder on a low volume smaller canoe). The days of one size fits all are pau, and that's why modern canoe designers have come out with these smaller or lower volume canoes.

Maui: No I'm not mad, I'm really happy that the girls are up there beating the men. They've come a long way, however, I know their performance would improve if they paddled canoes that matched their size.

I think paddling a makia would be like driving a 1989 racecar in a race today. Are those boat even still around?

#6 Fri, 04/10/2009 - 12:49pm

Poopoo: You really date me now, but I think it's called Kahele? More longer canoe too? Now that's the problem, the girls demand the smaller canoe, but then, when they make, the girls no buy. So the canoe makers add more volume, stretch out the canoe and sell them to heavier paddlers. Nden, the girls buy. Go figure?

Rambo where you? I don't see you on the list? I see Mills-Thom though. You coming for shoot video?

Koacanoe , U saying the PEGASUS is not a proformance boat. The TOP 3 women will be on a pegasus AND be from Maui

#8 Fri, 04/10/2009 - 5:03pm

Mauiboy, for the gals, the Pegasus is a wonderful canoe for them and should perform optimally for their size and weight. But me being around 250 pounds, I would sink, so more better, I stick to the old Wave Blade or Polaris?

All I can say is the wahine division has one heck of a line up and I'm really interested to see how the high performance low volume canoes fare with the high performance high volume canoes in the Channel? That's all.
